  • It is important you feel comfortable with your therapist for counselling to be successful. Jo offers free 15 minute consultations so you begin to get a feel for her style and ensure she can offer the kind of support you need.

    With that in mind, it is also important to remember it takes time to build relationship with someone new and you should expect it may take a number of sessions before you build trust and comfort.

  • We have two offices: a professional mountains cottage at 23 Hope st, Blaxland. This is a short walk from the station. Secondly, a serene garden studio in Blaxland East. The address for this is provided at the time of booking. We also provide some online sessions

  • Your sessions with Mountain Light Counselling and Consulting are confidential and private. This means we will not disclose the information you provide to us to Third Parties without your consent. There are limits to confidentiality in some legal circumstances including when there is a risk to you or others, or if we are responding to a subpoena or court order. Jo can chat with you about this during your first appointment and answer any questions you might have. 

    We will create and keep progress notes for you which will record relevant information relating to the treatment provided to you. We may also from time to time collect and store health information about you from third parties such as your referrer. Your progress notes are managed and protected in accordance with the applicable legal requirements. Legally, progress notes are required to be stored for a number of years following the conclusion of your therapy with us. 

    To support the security of your personal information, Mountain Light Counselling and Consulting uses Halaxy which complies with international standards for online security and encryption. You can request access to a copy of your progress notes. Please discuss this with Jo should you wish to do this at any time

  • Providing at least 24 hours' notice to cancel an appointment helps us to keep your session costs down, maximises our availability to clients and minimises lost clinical time. Appointments missed or rescheduled without 24 hours' notice will incur the full fee. Appointments cancelled with more than 24 hours' notice will be issued a full refund.

    • Individuals: $180

    • Couples: $280

    • Families: $280 first session, $180-280, depending on session.

    • ask about sliding scale fee reductions (limited timeslots available)

  • At the completion of your appointment, if preferred, you can pay in cash and a receipt will be emailed. Alternatively, your invoice will be emailed with a due date, generally 7 days from appointment date.
